Selectmen’s Meeting Agenda

  • Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:27 PM.

This meeting started later than scheduled because the Board had scheduled to meet with some State Representatives and their meeting lasted longer than planned.

  • Pledge of Allegiance
The meeting took place in the Selectmen’s Office where there is no flag so the Chair dispensed with the Pledge just for this evening.

  • Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes

  • Discussion held between 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.
The Police Chief, Mike Grovo, was in to discuss some daily items.  He talked about an arrest that was made where property was stolen in Buxton that is going to be returned to the owner as soon as it is no longer needed for evidence in the case.  The Police Department is still advertising for an Animal Control Officer and there are some cases coming up that have been ongoing.

At 5:30 a gentleman that lives here in town was in to ask the Board to consider a road name change.  The Selectmen told him they will discuss the matter and get back to him after the holidays because this is the last Selectmen’s Meeting until January 7, 2015.

The Selectmen met with 3 State Representatives, Amy Volk, Jonathan Kinney and Don Marean.  Selectman Emery said it was a very informative meeting on a lot of subjects including school issues, revenue sharing, and other legislative matters.  Chairman Emery said this is the first time the Board has had this many representatives in a room together and they look forward to having more meetings in the future.

  • Review of Correspondence
  • Notice from Buxton Transfer Station – Re:  New Hours of Operation starting Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
The new hours will be 9:00 AM – 5:00 on Tuesdays instead of 10:00AM to 6:00 PM.  That will make the Transfer Station’s new hours Tuesday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday & Saturday remains 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Santolucito reported that he will be attending on a regular basis the Budget Advisory Committee Meetings for the school district.  He said the discussions the Board had tonight were very useful in trying to put together a budget that supports the school.  They met last Thursday night, have another meeting this Thursday night, then are off until the 15th of January.

Selectman Booker also attended the Budget Advisory Committee Meeting and said she spent some time talking with Bill Brockman and gathered some information to give to the Representatives that came in to talk with the Board.  Selectman Booker said the Board got some good feedback from the Representatives they met with tonight.

Selectman Harmon attended the Wreaths Across America Ceremony which she said was a beautiful and moving ceremony.  She said the Town was well-represented.  The ceremony was taped and will be re-played on the local cable channel.

Selectman Burns has been in most days reading mail and catching up with other Selectmen who were here at the same time.  He has been attending the SAD 6 Budget Advisory Committee Meetings.  He said that will be an ongoing process until we vote.  He has been doing some research and reading on the budget and some of the definitions used to put the budget together and preparing for the meeting tomorrow night.

Selectman Emery was in a few times last week.  He stopped in the office and went over to talk with the Fire Chief and Tom Kennie at Public Works about storms last week and a couple of issues that came up.  He has been checking in with the staff and does what he can to answer questions, keep things moving along, and help make things go easier for them.

Selectman Emery said this will be the last Selectmen’s Meeting of this year and thanked the Board for doing a great job.
